Dear Friends,
The Board of Directors has led the Meriden Humane Society (MHS) through significant growth and improvement in these three years. However, what we have accomplished could not have been done without the generous support of our community. Whether you have donated funds or supplies, volunteered your time or shared our successes, we thank you.
Our top priority is finding loving homes for our furry friends. In the past three years,
we have found loving, permanent homes for 1,270 cats and dogs.
But before an animal is ready to go home, we must provide them with a loving temporary stay, where they are nurtured and provided for. It has been our goal to increase the quality of care at MHS - this includes preventative care, personal care, maintenance, and emergency care. We’re proud to say that because of your support, we now provide a comprehensive range of medical care, sterilization, individualized food plans and a warm safe environment while they wait for their forever homes.
In addition, facility upgrades are necessary to provide for our animals. We are working toward improving the outdoor dog kennels making them more functional during inclement weather. And by adding windows to each of the two cat lounges, the kitties will get a source of natural light and a view of the outdoors.
We aren’t just a shelter. It is our mission to aid the community with its pet care needs by providing assistance and education. With your help, we continue to stock our own pet food pantry, which serves more than 25 Meriden families each month. I hope that in this holiday of giving you will consider making a donation to the shelter, allowing us to continue our mission: helping animals that have been abandoned, surrendered, abused, or forgotten.
Have a safe and happy holiday!
Katherine Lapico, CPA President of the Board of Directors
